Corrosion Tehnician- SG-08-090

Job Responsibilities
 
  • Responsible for all activities related to corrosion control and pipeline integrity. These include but are not limited to: 1.) Gather and evaluate data, 2.) Recommend, perform, and oversee mitigative measures and 3.) Document all related work associated with performing and maintaining regulatory compliance and operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Cathodic protection includes gathering annual pipe-to-soil surveys for transmission, rural distribution, and distribution pipeline systems, troubleshooting low readings on pipeline systems, gathering rectifier readings and troubleshooting rectifier units, performing interference testing, and recommending, designing, overseeing installation, and performing as-built drawings for needed cathodic protection facilities.
  • Internal corrosion responsibilities include evaluating and monitoring the internal corrosion control program for gas pipelines.
  • Atmospheric corrosion duties include performing coating evaluations and providing technical assistance to division operations.
  • Pipeline integrity responsibilities may include providing assistance running in-line digital metal loss or close interval surveys where applicable, writing associated action plans, performing and documenting prove-up inspections, and writing closure reports.

 

Educational Requirements

  • A two year technical degree in Corrosion Technology, electrical, electronics, or equivalent from an approved and accredited college or university is preferred. Job experience may be considered in place of educational requirements.
  • Approved educational courses in all phases of corrosion including internal, external, and atmospheric corrosion.

 

Job Requirements

  • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient with computer software including MS Office, GDO Mapping, and American Innovation’s PCM (CPDM).
  • Safe work practice and active participation in the safety program.
  • Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work independently.
  • Ability to successfully work in team environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Some of out of town travel is required and expected with overnight stays.

 

Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • NACE courses with preferred certification.
  • Technical course for troubleshooting rectifiers.
  • R-Streng software experience for evaluating pipeline remaining strength.
  • Pipeline integrity experience with ILI, CIS, DCVG, PCM, and ECDA.
